album // Mute Sampler
This free* Amazon.co.uk compilation sneaked out
without any mention whatsoever from Mute, and consists
of fifteen tracks from what could be considered Mute's current roster.
Mute Sampler features tracks either taken
from 2010 / 2011 Mute releases or by artists who will be putting
out new material in 2012 (as I write this Alison Goldfrapp
has been tweeting about new songs she and Will Gregory
have been writing, while Polly Scattergood told
me to expect new material next year). The inclusion of Vince Clarke's
remix of Depeche Mode's 'Behind The Wheel' from this year's massive
Remixes 2 : 81 - 11 compilation, whilst fantastic, is also
a reminder that Depeche will no longer be part of the Mute roster
in the future following Daniel Miller's buy-out of Mute in 2010.
According to a press release I saw at the time, Depeche Mode will
stay signed to EMI, but the nature of Miller's deal (which included
licencing the Mute 'name') was that the new Mute Artists label would
be able to licence back elements from the old label. Presumably
that also includes commissioning new remixes, as a decent chunk
of Remixes 2 : 81 - 11 showed.
Over on the left hand side you'll find links to
a number of Documentary Evidence reviews of the albums that the
tracks on Mute Sampler are taken from.

* At least, I think this is free. The Amazon page
seems to state it as being free while also listing out per-song
prices further down the page.
